Where Every Dog Deserves A Job

Dog Training

Indiana Working Dogs provides services tailored to the indivdual need of the dog and their humans.  No dog is a lost cause to us and we believe,  with proper communication,  any healthy dog can be trained.

We start with an evalution of the dogs current behavior and owners needs and make recommendations to what kind of training is appropriate for that particular dog.  Indiana Working Dogs also is available for when you decide it is time to find a puppy and will help in the selection appropriate to your lifestyle.  Some of our services include:
    Day Camp training

Puppy preschool
    Novice Obedience
    Advanced Obedience
    Behavior Problems

Lessons are privately held in our facility with a day camp option, where we jumpstart the training of your dog, . Our day camps have two options. A 5 day plan and a 10 day advanced plan. In those 5 days your dog will learn sit, down, heel.and come  The 10 day plan includes the basic obedience with a continuation towards added commands of stand, placemat and right side heel.  With completion of our Novice obedience  program and a passing grade in the Novice test,  You will be able to come to group classes for as long as you own the dog for free.

Training pricing:

Novice Obedience:
Option 1: 10 private lessons for $600.00
Option 2: 5 day jumpstart daycamp with 5 private lessons are $800.00
Option 3:  10 day jumpstart daycamp with 5 private lessons are $1000.00

The course of Novice obedience will consist of:
Figure Eight and Heel on Leash -This test shows whether the dog has leamed to watch its handler and adjust its pace to stay with the handler.
Heel Free - It is done off leash and is of the same pattern as the heel on leash.
Stand for Examination -this test is of great benefit when the dog needs hands-on care by a veterinarian.
Recall - This test provides the handler with the ability to call the dog and get an immediate response at all times.
Long Sit (1 minute) -This test allows the handler to have control of the dog when visitors come to the home.
Long Down (3 minutes) -In this requirement the dog must remain in a down position without undue movement

Once you and your dog have passed the following tests then you will have earned a spot in our Group Class for as long as you own the dog.  Our Group Class will meet at various locations around the Greenwood, IN and Southside of Indianapolis, IN area.

We do not offer guarantees as we cannot control the dog's handling by anyone other than the staff at Indiana Working dogs.  Guarantees are generally written as to be easily voided by the companies that offer them.  That is why we offer free group classes for as long as you own your dog instead so owners can work on problem areas without the high cost of repeating classes.  No dog will maintain its abilities without practice and reenforcement.
